FUTURE BIG SISTERS!!!!

August 20, 2017 by Ashley Leave a Comment

Hey everyone! Designpetproject took the summer off from blogging to work on a bunch of house and landscape projects. I can’t wait to share all of these projects in future posts. We were also DIY’ing something a little extra…

I am so happy to finally share with everyone that Ben and I are expecting a baby! Our girls are going to be big sisters and we couldn’t be more excited about it!

Penny and Molly are going to be the best big sisters. I can’t wait for this baby to be integrated into our already great family of four.

So far I am thinking our baby is like Jack-Jack from the Incredibles and Ben and I are Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. I feel like we are going to be the best super hero family but now we need to create Incredibles characters for Penny and Molly. Big sisters with super smelly senses and extreme barking protection!

I have been waiting to share this with everyone on social media but I believe it is time! I think we are doing a great job being parents to two wonderful furry girls. They are renaissance women, super shiny, and sooo snuggly. I am hoping those skills translate to humans. If anyone has any tips about products, babying, or anything else we should know, please share all of your tips and tricks!

We are for sure putting squishy dog beds in the nursery!

Baby Vlasak Nilsson is due February 2018. Stay tuned for a nursery inspiration post and all of the projects we have been working on this summer!

VINYL TILE…IN A CABINET? LET’S GET CRAZY!

Sooooo… Ben is the greatest guy. He thinks of the most awesome ideas. Today’s post is inspired by his research and ingenuity. So far in the kitchen we have demo’d the countertops and backsplash, repaired and painted the walls/ceiling and sanded and painted the cabinets. Up next. Vinyl floor tiles. But…. Not on the floor….

WHEN IN DOUBT, JUST ADD GLITTER. CABINET HARDWARE & HINGES

When in doubt, just add glitter! Cabinet pulls and knobs are the glitter of the kitchen. When we moved into the house, pre-kitchen renovation, the hardware on the cabinets was in pretty bad shape. The hinges were rusty and had been painted over to match the cabinets. The pulls were installed horizontally and had a…

UPDATING THE KITCHEN LIGHTING

So here’s the deal with lighting. When the lighting is perfect even the most normal builder grade spaces look good. When the lighting is bad even the most perfect rooms look terrible. Lighting is a very important component to any space. A good balance of natural light, lighting levels and light colors can change a…
