Beckett’s Nursery Tour!

October 11, 2018 by Ashley 1 Comment

Hey everyone! Finally, I am getting some time to share nursery photos with you all. Beckett is 9 months old now and we have worked out all of the kinks. The nursery turned out great and I am super pumped to show you everything! This is the first room we have worked on that I can feel my style evolving. It is shifting from midcentury to a lot of Scandinavian style. I still love a good vintage piece but I can see myself gravitating to clean lines and bright white rooms.

I wanted to include a short video of what the non stylized nursery looks like. I feel like instagram is so perfect that I wanted everyone to see how we use the space without everything being perfect. Not too messy, not too clean.

I shared this inspiration post a few months back. Check it out to see how it compares to the finished product. It is always cool to see where we started and how the room turned out. In this case it was a pretty close match with a few tweaks in the mix.

This is what the room looked like before. We hadn’t really done anything to it since we moved in. It was an office that we also used as a storage unit and random movie watching. The walls look greyish in the photo but they are really hospital green. Yuck.

First up! Sanding the walls and the ceiling! I know, weird right? Well not for us. This house is notorious for having drips on the ceiling and the walls from previous bad paint jobs. After you sand the key is to make sure you wipe the walls down with a damp cloth. You don’t want dust particles getting in the paint.

Now here is where it gets weird. The ceiling fan was caulked in place!!!!! I know. This heavy thing was caulked into place. I feel bad for the poor schmuck who had to hold it in place until it dried.

Next up. Painting the ceiling! You don’t know how not white your ceiling is until you paint it. This is always the first thing we do in a room. Especially a bedroom. When you get in bed at night if the ceiling isn’t painted you are going to be staring up at all of the flaws.

Next we painted the walls and trim. Ben and I agreed on the color right away! Vermont Cream! See my inspiration post for my thoughts on the type of paint. Color? Fabulous. Paint? Terrible.

Trim Paint? Straight out of the can! No tint. Perfect semigloss Behr White. Works every time. Some people are so against using straight paint but for us when we have to many whites it just makes sense to use something so versatile when you have a whole house to paint.

Now Accessorizing! This was so much fun! See below to shop the room! I still want to hang some more art but Beckett seems to like it and I am in love with how it turned out!

I have also updated the house tour with the nursery pics and updated to do list so check that out too!

Very nice! Clean lines makes the room look so organized. Inviting and not overwhelming. Soothing. Nice job Ashley and Ben 🙂
