WELCOME BABY BECKETT!

January 27, 2018 by Ashley 1 Comment

Homecoming!

Drum roll please! We are now a family of 5!

Ashley, Ben, Penny, Molly, and ……..Beckett!

Welcome to the world baby Beckett!

The first time we got to hold him

Beckett Vlasak Nilsson was born early on January 4th, 2018. 6 weeks early! He just couldn’t hang out anymore and was excited to join the world! Because of this we have spent the last few weeks at Children’s Hospital. Beckett needed to learn to breathe and eat on his own.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions for all of us. Ben and I have aged a few years in only a few weeks. If I could describe this in a few words… Scary as Hell! When people say that becoming a parent changes your life they are totally right. Then when your baby is in the NICU you become a mess of emotions and worry for your baby that you don’t even know yet. It is a strange and insane feeling to be so worried about someone who you have only just met. Having a baby in the NICU is like being in a club that no one wants to join.

BECKETT IS HOME!

We couldn’t be more excited! He is so cute! He has a full head of hair that poofs out when he gets a bath and looks at you with a confused grin.

I plan on writing a more detailed birth story about our journey but I think I need some time to get some perspective on how Beckett was born and our journey. It is too fresh with emotions and everytime I try and write it I can’t figure out what to say. It has been very traumatic. A lot of people describe a sense of PTSD when it comes to having a premie in the hospital. That seems totally valid and it takes a while to get into a schedule at home since the hospital schedule is so different and regulated.

One thing I know for sure is how thankful I am for the staff at Children’s Hospital. They are so great and we are lucky to have people in the world that care as much for Beckett as they do for their own children. I know their jobs are not easy but they always made us feel like Beckett was part of their family.

We are so excited to be parents and I am over the moon pumped to be sharing a bunch of Beckett pics with you all to celebrate his homecoming!

LOVE YOU BECKETT! WELCOME HOME!

The girls are very interested! Molly just wants to make sure she gets enough snuggling
